The hit new German miniseries about World War II revolves around a group of German soldiers trapped in front of a Russian minefield. It’s Berlin, 1941 – five friends are eager to become heroes. Among them are the brothers from Berlin with strong jaws and very precise haircuts: Friedhelm and Wilhelm. Friedhelm is the sympathetic Berlienr who has thus far been reluctant to kill anyone while his older brother, Wilhelm, is the group’s admired leader. Valour and courage come to the fore in this film, but also betrayal – of values, beliefs and humanity. There are millions who want to be heroes but none of them could imagine what the war would ultimately do to them and the rest of the world.
