Time Out says

Michael Mann, director of many hit films such as ‘Heat’ and ‘The Insider’, is directing a new HBO series about the world of horse racing. The show revolves around the owners, gamblers, jockeys and game players. Set in Santa Anita, California (a racing haven in itself), the show depicts scenes at the clubhouses and grandstands taking dramatic turns. Creator David Milch, who brought us the epically profane ‘Deadwood’, works with a stellar cast including the likes of Dustin Hoffman, Michael Gambon, Tom Payne and Nick Nolte. Noted to be the most anticipated HBO series since ‘Boardwalk Empire’, we suggest you get with the race.
