The Japan Foundation in KL collaborates with Soubi Sha and Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) in a project to rediscover the roots of butoh, a Japanese avant-garde art form founded by Tatsumi Hijikata. Presented in a series of talks, conferences, showcases and workshops from June 6 to 8, the Butoh Season gathers Malaysian and Japanese experts, choreographers and dancers to explore the art and its influence. On June 13 and 14, Soubi Sha will perform together with a local butoh dance group at KLPac for 'Reminiscence: The World of Strange Tales'. Revenue from ticket sales will be donated to TAR UC's Trust Fund for Student Centre Construction.
