Since emerging in 1998, Las Vegas's resident orchestra gradually gained recognition under recently-retired music director Harold Weller; today, new director David Itkin and associate conductor Richard McGee continue the effort. Repertoire has remained largely highbrow, with new works occasionally commissioned from contemporary composers. Aside from the concerts at Ham Hall, the Phil also perform pop classics to family audiences in annual recitals timed to coincide with holidays such as Christmas and Independence Day.
