Pearly Kings and Queens, London's town crier, cheerleaders, Morris dancers, bikers, vintage cars, traction engines, and bands from London boroughs and abroad are part of the colourful mix that will make up this year's London New Year's Day parade. The American-style extravaganza of 10,000 musicians, dancers, acrobats, cheerleaders, clowns and floats will twirl, march and drum its way from Parliament Square to Piccadilly. The route goes down Whitehall, through Trafalgar Square and along Pall Mall, Lower Regent Street and Piccadilly, with temporary grandstands erected for better viewing in some places. Four hundred thousand spectators are expected so arrive early to secure a good vantage point, especially if you're taking small children.
