This Sunday will see the celebrations to welcome in the Year of the Ox take place in Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Chinatown and, for the first time, Shaftesbury Avenue. Festivities begin at 12noon with an official opening ceremony in Trafalgar Square, followed by a variety of performances featuring Chinese dragons, lions and acrobatics. Chinatown will be be filled with cultural and food stalls, and the 'Hong Kong in London' stage on Shaftesbury Avenue hosts entertainment from local Chinese artists. The closing fireworks display takes place in Leicester Square. Avoid using Leicester Square tube if you can; it's likely to become very congested.
