'Longplayer' is a project by Jem Finer which features a musical composition set to play continuously, without repetition, for 1,000 years, in a lighthouse at Trinity Buoy Wharf in Docklands. This Artangel performance will see 1,000 minutes of the composition played live on a 25m wide instrument comprising Tibetan singing bowls tuned to different pitches. The day will also include a marathon form of the annual Longplayer Conversation, a ten-hour discourse featuring a relay of speakers, including novelists Jeanette Winterson and Mark Haddon, psychotherapist Susie Orbach, Oxford mathematics professor Marcus du Sautoy and historian Lisa Jardine.
