The ceremony to celebrate the sovereign's official birthday is probably the most spectacular of London's annual traditions. Tickets for the seating in Horse Guards are allocated by ballot at the start of the year. Spectators can watch along the route down the Mall and at the end of Green Park (arrive early if you want to be far enough forward to get a decent view). A 41-gun salute will be fired in Green Park at 12noon, and a 62-gun salute at Gun Wharf at the Tower of London at 1pm.

This is one of the best displays I've ever had the pleasure to behold. I just love her maj, and although I didn't get a very good view of her I could feel the radience of her royallness through the crowd amongst her loyal subjects on this most crucial day. Long live Regina!
