The organisers of the Potato Fair, an annual charity fundraiser, have more than 100 varieties of seed potato on offer, and they want Londoners to go along and swap all kinds of flower, fruit and vegetable seeds (home-grown or shop-bought), meet fellow potato heads and get free gardening advice from experts. While the event is likely to appeal to those who can tell their King Edwards from their Pink Fir Apples, it's open to anyone keen to pick up tips on getting down and dirty in their back gardens. Profits from the event will go to the charity Hope and Homes for Children (www.hopeandhomes.org), which works in 13 countries in Eastern Europe and Africa.
