This fundraising and public awareness campaign for endangered Asian elephants (the ones with the smaller ears) features 250 fibreglass elephants painted by artists, designers and celebrities including Marc Quinn, Lulu Guinness and Diane von Furstenberg. The elephants will be 'on parade' at London landmarks including Parliament Square, Trafalgar Square and the South Bank, before being herded together in the grounds of Royal Chelsea Hospital (June 25-28), where on June 30 there will be an auction of 30 selected elephants with charity patron Goldie Hawn. The remaining elephants will be auctioned by Sotheby's on July 3, in aid of UK conservation charities working in Asia.
