The Shakespeare Olympics begin April 22 at the Globe
Seven years in the planning and £9 billion in the making, the London 2012 Olympic Games is the biggest single event to happen in the capital in many of our lifetimes (yes, even bigger than the Royal Wedding). It will take place in a 16-day splash of blood, sweat and tears as the planet's most physically gifted people vie for Olympic glory.

Venues including Hyde Park, Horse Guards Parade, Greenwich and Hampton Court will host the action but taking centre stage is the East End, home to the London 2012 Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Centre. Together these London landmarks will become temples of sport, where iconic moments are seared forever into the minds of billions watching across the globe.
