Once again, Hyde Park gives itself over to Christmas with a various rides and attractions including a Giant Observational Wheel and two circuses - 'Christmas Circus' and 'Cirque Extreme' - from the family-friendly Zippos Circus. Winter Wonderland's ice rink, the biggest outdoor rink in the UK, has a new home this year, surrounding the Victorian bandstand. While some activities are ticketed, it's worth noting that entry to the site, including Santa Land and the Christmas Market, is free and an after-dark stroll is surprisingly atmospheric. If temperatures plummet and you need to defrost, there's a fully heated and covered bar/restaurant, the Spiegel Saloon, with live entertainment every night. If you're skating, be aware that while there's no minimum age for skaters, under-12s must be accompanied and the smallest skates for hire are children's size 9 (adult skates go up to size 13). You can use your own skates as long as they're not speed skates. Wheelchair users are welcome on the ice.

We really enjoyed ourselves and sort of felt we had just spent a day on the Continent. Enjoyed the beer, bratwurst, German potatoes and waffles. We actually brought our ice skates thinking we would skate, but arriving at 11:15, there was no chance to skate before 6:30. So, if you want to skate -- be advised you should book ahead :-). We didn't go on any other rides, but just enjoyed good food, atmosphere and conversation. We really didn't feel the food pricing was extortionate either, and it was nice to have some German sausages that actually have meat in them. It was much more crowded than we thought it would be, but all in all, a lovely day out.

This place is amazing and the rides are pretty spectacular. However I would not advise to go onto the Blizzard (ride with just 4 passengers on each end) because to maximise profit they have really brought down the ride time. The ride time is about 30-40 seconds after which you are told by very rude staff to get off quickly, and for 7 pounds I would expect more.

Food , beer and wine are widely available.

Enjoy

Had such a great time! V Christmassy, such a buzzing atmosphere. Rides were fun - even if a bit pricey - but what the hey! So much better than I expected! Romantic too :)

This is a fairground with a few plastic Santas thrown in. The usual chips, beer and hot dogs, nothing nice or particularly Christmassy, just tat.

Terrible. A collection of fun fair rides at 6 quid a pop and a terrible German market.

Dismal. Not a scratch on anything you'd find in Germany. Horribly commercial feel. What did I expect? Well something not that bad I suppose. *shrug*

Great attractions and setting but needs thought to flow of general public.
Was there Saturday and Sunday. Too busy, overcrowded, like being in a rugby scrum.
This is not a safe environment for a family with young children or with prams. Being pushed, jostled etc....... by throngs of people
Organisers need to address this.
