METROPOLIS - an exhibition by ROB MACDONALD
HACKNEY PICTUREHOUSE
28 October - 30 November 2011
270 Mare Street, London E8
daily 12-11pm

A dynamic show of images shot in cities including Tokyo, Madrid, New York, Budapest and San Francisco. Our ideas of a metropolis are formed through imagination and cinema as much as through experience. This exhibition takes as its subject the cityscape – its centre and its margins, exploring the idea of a city rather than representing specific places. This body of work is also featured in the accompanying book – ‘metropolis'

FOR OUR FREEDOM YEARS AT THE TOWNHOUSE
29 October – 11 November 2011
Private View 28 October 6-9
5 Fournier Street, London, E1 6QE
forourfreedomyears@blogspot.com

for our freedom years is a reaction to women's 'culture', to the idea that as women we share the same ideals, beliefs, ethos and problems, fundamentally the same identity. An identity that is expected and in many cases embraced by females in mainstream society. This exhibition and collective brings together two female artists, Gemma Donovan and Kerry Clark, who draw upon their experiences as women in order to re-evaluate the notions of femininity.

ditto is… walking around East London
With barely the time to draw breath after nine action-packed days for the London Design Festival, the city now gives way to Photomonth, an international photography festival running for the next two months in the wild streets of East London.

Photomonth is committed to the creative development of photography, aiming to demonstrate the diversity of contemporary photography and reach the widest possible audience, giving the opportunity for emerging artists to be appreciated in a variety of interesting and unusual spaces alongside leading internationally renowned photographers. And since most events are free, there’s absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t be a part of it...
