Prof Rosemary Ashton gives a lecture about Tory opposition to the University of London (now UCL) during its early days in the 1820s, especially in the Tory paper John Bull, which nicknamed the new institution 'Stinkomalee' in honour of the swampy rubbish dump on which the building was constructed.
