  • Got a gripe to get off your chest? Email it to events@jcclondon.org and it might be incorporated into a song by Jonny Berliner and aired as part of the Jewish Community Centre’s Kvetch Choir  performance at the Southbank Centre’s week-long celebration of choral singing.

With performances by professional choirs including The Bach Choir, The Swingle Singers and Libera in the Southbank Centre’s concert halls, free choral workshops and karaoke sessions and the chance to be a part of the world’s biggest beatbox choir, the festival offers something for every taste and temperament.

It opens on Sunday with a huge variety of choirs singing in the public spaces of the Royal Festival Hall. Choral clubs in The Front Room at the QEH each evening at 6pm – from Monday until May16 – offer a chance to try out a range of different singing styles including musical theatre, pop and gospel. The karaoke sessions are at 9.30pm from May 15 to 17, and advance-ticket holders for the May 17 concert by Shlomo’s new 14-piece ensemble will be invited to a beatboxing workshop in the morning in preparation for taking part in the evening’s concert.
