200 recently discovered photographs shed light on the often overlooked importance of black people in Victorian Britain

In an attempt to shed light on the often overlooked importance of black people in Victorian Britain throughout the history of the Empire, here, over 200 recently discovered photographs are exhibited, many for the first time. Notably, on display are the remarkable portraits by the London Stereoscopic Company of 30 individual members of The African Choir, which have stayed unopened for the past 120 years, as well as dignitaries, servicemen, missionaries, and many other black Britons who continue to remain anonymous.
