American artist Jeff Koons's boundary-pushing examination of consumerism, taste, beauty and banality has ranged from creating 40-foot high puppies made from flowering plants to starring in a series of pornographic photos with his wife of the time. This show of paintings and sculptures at the Serpentine Gallery features work from the 'Popeye Series', a collision of imagery and objects from art history and popular culture including inflatable beach toys recreated in cast and painted aluminium.
