'TH.2058', the latest Unilever Series commission for the Turbine Hall doesn't have the immersive, transporting effect of its sci-fi background story, and not only because one sees it alongside an audience dressed in the fashions of 2008. The nudging books, and a looped projection that plays clips of films exploring futurity, disorientation and time – from Tarkovsky's 'Solaris' to Polanski's 'Repulsion' to Robert Smithson's 'Spiral Jetty' – situate the work somewhere between a dream and a self-conscious diagram.
