Artist Rachel Whiteread, who won the Turner Prize in 1993 after creating 'House', a cast of the interior of an East End terrace, and who filled the Tate Turbine Hall in in 2005-6 with 'Embankment', a maze-like arrangement of 14,000 white casts of the inside of different cardboard boxes, creates a new, permanent work of art for the façade of the Whitechapel Gallery's main entrance.
