A selection of digital and print works from Tom Phillips' long-standing major project ‘A Humument: A Treated Victorian Novel’ are exhibited the Saison Poetry Library at Royal Festival Hall. The project began in 1966, in which Phillips deconstructed the text of ‘A Human Document’ by W.H. Mallock and recreated intricate visual designs on the original pages. Currently there are five print editions, and an interactive digital version which is regularly updated as the work continues to evolve. Also on display are other pieces inspired by ‘A Humument’, such as a skull covered with excerpts of the original text, and a libretto of Phillips’ opera, as well as a collection of Phillips’ poetic tweets.
Exhibition open: Tue-Sun 11am-8pm
