  • The Gallery has recently been rehung with greater emphasis on the 19th century paintings collection, and the "dull and unimpressive" official portraiture is no longer on display. Represented here are some of the big name artists of the Victorian era, including Lord Leighton, Alma-Tadema, Constable, Millais, Rossetti and Holman Hunt. Guildhall Art Gallery also houses the studio collection of Sir Matthew Smith, and has a large collection of London paintings dated from the 1660s to the present on display in the Undercroft. Admission to the Gallery and Amphitheatre is now completely free, with some special exhibitions ticketed.
