The national archives of England, Wales and Northern Ireland is essentially a huge library storing items relating to more than 1,000 years of history, from the Domesday Book to the latest Government papers to be released. Anyone over 14 can register for a free readers ticket which allows access to a variety of documents, from the papers of ordinary citizens to those documenting momentous events in the nation’s history.
