If you can manage to locate one of the grubby alleyways leading to the West End’s Phoenix Garden, it’s a lovely little green spot for high-rolling city types based in the Charing Cross Road area to have a quiet breather away from the pencil-pushing mayhem of office life. The plants, flowers and wildlife in the garden are all maintained by volunteers, and you can even check on a regularly updated blog (http://phoenixgarden.blogspot.com/) to see what plant species are currently blooming. The Phoenix Garden had a brilliant Agricultural Show last year and it's happening again in September. They recreated a "country show" in the middle of the West End! It was a hoot! Apart from farm animals they had a rare breed pigeon tent (with judges), Morris Dancers, bellringing, Punch & Judy and a Wl cake stall. They always have great events there.

I love this place. Love that they have community events - my favourite was easter, watching the little 'uns run around the garden finding eggs, and face painting. A tranquil space, and clearly well loved and looked after. I think you can hire the space aswell, which is good to know about - and interesting wedding venue , possibly?
