Casbah Room, Old Street Wednesday February 27 2013 19:30 - 21:30
Artists and scientists in London explore various thorny issues around the superabilities of comic book characters. Across two nights, they will look at aspects such as the crime-fighting powers of the good and the brainwashing attempts of the evil, as well as giving demonstrations showing how close we are to owning extraordinary abilities ourselves. 'Draw', on Feb 20, focuses on the artistic ability behind creating comic books and graphic novels, with neurologists and psychologists discussing how art has influenced science and how science has started to understand what makes a good artist. And on Feb 27, 'Crime' will take a closer look at the abilities of comic book protagonists and antagonists, including a look at the latest forensic techniques and the powers of persuasion, and a chance to try and beat the lie detector.
