Baltic reopened inJukly 2012 following a fire, but little has changed. With a small square of front terrace, a modern bar and a grand, sunken restaurant, this little piece of Poland has been a worthwhile stop on Waterloo bar crawls for many a year.
At the entrance is the cocktail bar, known for its extraordinary range of flavoured wódkas: they create their own peppercorn, mint, dill, caramel, ginger, cherry, lemon and redcurrant varieties, the last the base for the Porzeczka (shaken with Wyborowa Pure and grapefruit juice). ‘Super luxury vodka martinis’ are made with the likes of U’Luvka, Chopin, Wyborowa Exquisite, Belvedere Pure and Potocki Polish Rye.
An equally Polish menu in the restaurant beyond includes stuffed pierogi pasta parcels, blini with smoked salmon and barszcz beetroot soup.
