One of Soho’s unsung and superior destinations, this lovely little corner pub flanking a narrow alleyway in the heart of the gay quarter attracts a real cross-section. Older types might drop by for the Sunday afternoon jazz sessions or the weekly quiz, while regular DJs bring in a different crowd.
Events take place in a cosy room upstairs, while down below, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Hoegaarden, Leffe and Magners cider are served. The bar staff’s predecessor of a century ago, Fred D Harris, is honoured on the wall, as is the late, legendary Terry, whom many Sohoites may remember from the Dive Bar days. Food includes signature salt-beef sandwiches and sundry pies, minces and omelettes.
