This basement cocktail bar has given a little pep to an otherwise long-established after-work bar scene in Media Central.
Tucked down a flight of stairs, it feels like a private members’ club, at least until you clock the granny’s-house decor: a china cup on each of seven tables, a white-rose design on the wallpaper, a frilly lampshade.
The empty bottles of Mumm are perhaps wishful thinking on behalf of the management, although it’s easy to do some serious damage to the cocktail menu. In addition – and this is where granny’s cups come into the picture – there are four teatime cocktails, including a Chimps Tea of Monkey Shoulder, peach liqueur, Earl Grey tea syrup and orange zest. A solitary Asahi tap caters to lager drinkers.
