Before becoming the Wandsworth Common branch of this wine-bar chain, this site held a mediocre but lavishly designed Italian restaurant, complete with fancy tiling, expensive lighting, niches and a beautiful open kitchen.

When it went bust, Brinkley’s moved in, changing little about the appearance apart from the sign outside. Fortunately, though, they did get around to changing the menu (now a mix of ‘popular classics’, including weekend brunch and Sunday roasts), the staff and, of course, the wine list.

The various branches of the chain, scattered across south-west London, are notable for having decent to good wines at remarkably low mark-ups, of benefit to both connoisseurs and simple quaffers. France is usually well-represented, but the stock changes constantly and it’s best to ask the staff for their recommendations on the best deals by the bottle or the glass.

Food was not great. Always go bak as think food will get better but it never does. They need a new better chef! The menue never changes and food tastes reheated and average. Disappointing for the atmosphere which is nice.

Food was only just average but priced far too above average....attentive staff but not once were we asked "is everything ok?" type question normally asked in restaurants....perhaps they did not dare for fear of answer.....If you're prepared to pay good money for good food....this is not the place!!!

Whilst the food was ok, it was massively overpriced for what it was. I wouldn't go back in a hurry.
