  • Worst venue ever, so rude and pretentious staff that it makes me ashamed of being French like these guys at the door: Ugly, stupid and ridiculously bow-tied like wanabees, So desperate to look like a busy place with actually 20 people in the bar. Watch out if you're 6 they will consider you are a group (!) and therefore "really difficult" to find space so they'll tell you to wait for at least an hour at the door in front of the shabby restaurant next door. No drink on earth is worth queueing in front of a chinese canteen, negotiating with rude and ugly people in the gutter, especially given the amount of great places you can find in soho just off this awful place. This is typical of the worst London can offer.

  • Giving it 1 star just because that's the minimum! Incredibly rude doorman. We arrived at 6.30pm Saturday night (it opens at 6) and we were refused entry despite the fact there was obviously space available and all we wanted was 1 drink before going on for our dinner reservation at 7.30pm. The doorman was incredibly rude and arrogant. This place is pretentious and does not deserve to succeed. There are so many better places to go that are welcoming and want your business

  • This place is great. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the cocktails were classically styled, original and brilliant. I wonder if people are giving bad reviews so they can keep it to themselves - or just sour grapes because they couldn't get in. It is quite a small venue.

  • Pointless having such a quirky venue/idea when the hospitality is so poor. Woman on the door had a cat catalogue for keeping her bookings(!?) and a particularly horrific attitude. A truly soul-less place.

  • no star rating as despite trying to get in Friday night (albeit late!) was told to get there early the next day - so, tried the next day at 7pm (opens at 6pm) and told they were full and told to come back in an hour - argued that they didn't have booking until 8pm so what was the problem in just having one drink within the hour??? He then said that it would not be worth us coming back to try later in the night! RUDE doorman, poor reception and will not try again as nothing is worth that amount of hassle. No star rating as they are not worth it. Get some manners and get over yourself.

  • Incredibly rude doorman, bar staff and manager. A dreadful experience which left me feeling upset and unsettled for some time after leaving. Horrific.

  • I have no issues with guest lists and door men and pretentious staff – all par for the course in London new bars. What I do have issues with are rude staff and quite frankly preposterous rules. My friend called over the phone and couldn’t make a booking but they said we could stand by the bar she got there first and ordered her drink. I arrived 10 minutes later and wasn’t allowed in my name wasn’t on the door. I explained my friend was already there and we were just having drinks at the bar as we understood we couldn’t book a table. Rude man on door was having none of it, I asked my friend to come down with a member of staff to explain I wasn’t chancing it we were just here for a drink. The staff member said and I quote “ he didn’t want to get involved” and went back upstairs. My friend asked why they had served her if they weren’t going to allow me to join her, if they had said from the outset you friend won’t be allowed in now she wouldn’t have ordered. She explained her drink had only arrived so she would just leave, They insisted she pay – she argued she hadn’t even drunk it and they weren’t allowing her friend to join her so why should she pay. The manager was called and said she would have to pay for the non drunk drink whilst her friend waited downstairs. She could have walked out without them being able to do a thing about it but she paid for the drink she hadn’t drunk and we left. How is it possible to run a bar like this? I didn’t even go up but if this is how you treat your customers it’s a wonder you still have any. This isn’t sour grapes and although I didn’t see the bar I saw enough of the staff and their attitude including the manager to know that is not somewhere I want give any of my money to. Pathetic excuse of an establishment

  • Either ECC has improved since this feedback, or I had a lucky day. Went to ECC on 7 July with a group of 6 persons. As I'm not local, a friend helped make a reservation. We weren't sure if we were at the right place and there wasn't any signage. Saw the bouncer but he wasn't friendly until we approached him and said we had a reservation (basically the attitude that if you didn't know where the place was, you shouldn't be there in the first place), but once the female manager came down and confirmed our reservation, we did get smiles and laughs out of him. the waitress we had was great, she spent time going round the table to explain all the drinks and make recommendations. saw that she did the same for the other table. music was good too, maybe cos it's hard to find bars that play such music back where i'm from. overall we had a very good time, and i would go back if i'm ever in London. sorry to hear the rest of you guys had such a negative experience.

  • Best cocktails ever! Rude staff downstairs, but it changed the moment they knew we had a reservation. All's good once the cocktails arrived. And the lady was very very patient in explaining to our big group what each cocktail taste like.
