The London Academy of Bartending, LAB for short, is now almost a greybeard in the capital’s cool cocktail scene. Founded in 1996, it has changed little over the years and it is not the West End’s most atmospheric bar. Upstairs is mostly standing room, downstairs has more seating. Both spaces are loud, and the steep staircase connecting them can be a challenge once you've sunk a couple of daiquiris. What makes LAB a continuing success is the quality of the drinks.
Exceptionally talented bartenders deliver perfection in any drink, even when the place is rammed. There’s a long list of original creations. If you don’t like the look of them, you can’t go wrong asking for a classic either on or off the menu. A great place to begin a night out in Soho.
