The last survivor of Chipping Barnet’s once numerous coaching inns, the Ye Olde Mitre Inne – formerly just the the Mitre Inn – was founded in 1633 and has played host to the likes of Samuel Johnson and General Monck (on his way to restore Charles II to the throne).
