I originally visited the Waterloo area to eat at Waterloo Bar and Grill, but it seems to have closed down and been replaced by one of those ghastly chain places! And so I decided to explore a little further down the road and I came across Waterloo Bar and Kitchen. A brief glance at the menu and the nod from my girlfriend found us inside the rather busy restaurant. However, the smiling manager seated us quickly, our drink order was taken in minutes and the food not long after. We soon learnt that the business was due to the Old Vic theatre being next door, and we were thrilled that, once the restaurant emptied before it's second rush, we were offered a more comfy booth table. We went for the mussels and the pate to start with, both were excellent and tasty. The main meals of the lemon sole and lamb (both from the specials board) were also perfect - my sole was cooked to perfection. We had decided to take go for starters over dessert, but after seeing the next door table receive a warm chocolate brownie, we had no option but to share one with some double espressos - heaven! We washed the food down with a rather lovely Chablis and thoroughly enjoyed our evening!

The Waterloo Bar & Kitchen / Restaurant décor creates a very relaxed and intimate dining experience, yet our high ceilings and open kitchen keep the room fresh and spacious. The floor staff are efficient and professional and they understand how to be attentive without being intrusive.
We pride ourselves in the quality of the food we serve in our restaurant. Our Head Chef and his team source the most fresh and seasonal ingredients, creating twists on home-made classics from Chicken Liver Pate with Toasted Onion Brioche and a Cranberry Port Sauce to a Lemon Drizzle Cake with Creme Fraiche and Lemon Coulis. The restaurant also features various specials everyday.
The restaurant is the direct neighbour of the Old Vic Theatre and it is only two minutes walk from Waterloo Station. Many Old Vic customers join us post-theatre as the restaurant is so close to many transport connections.
The Waterloo Bar & Kitchen is located a short walk from Waterloo Railway Station.
