Behind the wide front terrace, the layout of this ages-old, well-run Young’s pub may be a little confusing at first, but the Leather Bottle is worthy of exploration.
Spaces include the Board Room, accessed from a short staircase either end behind the main bar; a more intimate room mainly given over to diners (basic pub food such as fish ’n’ chips, burgers); and a substantial beer garden, a boon in summer.
In colder months, the large old fire in the main bar comes into its own, as locals exchange chit-chat for old-school board games. The decoration isn’t anything remarkable, but it’s worth eyeing up the vintage memorabilia dotting the bare-brick walls, such as the photograph of the pub in its circa-1890 prime.

I can't believe the reviews that have been left for the Leather Bottle - What is going on people, this place is awesome!
If you live in South West London, (as I do,) and like a beer garden, (and lets face it who doesn't,) this place is brilliant!
Alcohol? Check. Live music? Check. Good Food? Check. What's to complain about?!
Ok... The service isn't the best and as a child friendly pub the garden is, inevitably, full of children. But it really isn't a problem. There's a self service burger hut (just like The Windmill) so no need to wait on the staff if you're feeling impatient and the garden is so big that the kiddies really won't affect your day... This also means that you (like them) can make as much noise as possible.
There are huts to hire, areas to hire, table tennis tables, hammocks... I think.
So go. Enjoy. It's the [second] hottest day of the year, your timing couldn't be better!
The worst bar service I have ever experienced. The queues were 4 to 5 people deep and very slow. It took an aveage of 25 minutes to get a drink. The bar staff are unfriendly, unable to multitask and unprofessional. The staff were arguing last night about who broke a glass into the ice bucket and left it there.. not only unprofessional to argue in front of all your customers but clearly a health and safety issue. Someone could have been severly hurt by getting glass with their ice in a drink. I will not be returning. There are a number of other lovely pubs in the Earlsfield area. Just a shame as it has such a nice outdoor area.
Myself and 15 friends clelebrated NYE (2012/13) here recently as it seemed promising as a local venue. However, to our great disappointed it was a non-event with little or no efforts put on by the staff and management for the NYE celebrations. Each of us paid £10 a few weeks beforehand to secure our place and with great expectations - it as nothing more than just a pub we poor service, understaffed and poor taste in music. The wait at the bar (1 bar open with 4 staff) was approximately, 20-25 minutes per order between the hours of 10-12. Absolutely unexceptable for any occasion especially having paid £10 each for entry. The least they could have done was open another bar and or put on additional staff to accommodate the additonal customer. Moreover, tables were not cleared throughout the evening and were left overcrowded by empty glasses and bottles. Overall, a disappointing venue, overcrowded, understaffed and overpriced entry and this veiw is shared by all 15 friends who atteneded!!!
Food and service very shoddy. We ordered food there pretty simple order and they got it wrong. Also my roast chicken was raw in middle so for food go somewhere else!
Extremely disappointed by the food at the Leather Bottle in Earlsfield. My partner and I have been going to the Leather Bottle regularly over the past 2 years and have always really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and the incredible beer garden. However, on our last visit the experience was completely different as we found the food to be completely inedible. When we complained, the manager explained that they have very recently changed suppliers; unfortunately the quality of the ingredients has suffered as a result. They have replaced high quality items with substandard substitutes and the chef should be ashamed of himself for allowing this food to be served to his customers.
Great, atmospheric Youngs Pub in my old stomping ground. Stay away from the food, it's just the usual "microwave reheat" specials........... and it's always inexplicably packed on a sunday dinner time....... but oh! the beer is good............ and the garden is lovely in the sunshine............. and it has happy memories for me............. Have a beer and enjoy!
