    West
    Albertine
Despite a rustic look, this long-standing venue has kept up with trends in the wine world. Australia forms a major part of the list, with posh versions of normally rather dull branded wines the highlight.
    Albertine, 1 Wood Lane, W12 7DP (020 8743 9593) Shepherd’s Bush tube.

    Amuse Bouche
Champagne bars are usually found in swanky town centre hotels, yet this busy place dedicated to high-quality fizz is located in Parsons Green (there’s also a new branch in Soho).
Amuse Bouche, 51 Parsons Green Lane, SW6 4JA (020 7371 8517) Parsons Green tube. Feature continues

    Brinkley’s
The Brinkley’s flagship, The Oratory, has recently closed, leaving this as the main branch in the SW postcodes. It’s a good wine bar with remarkably low mark-ups.
    Brinkley’s, 47 Hollywood Rd, SW10 9HX (020 7351 1683) Earl’s Court or South Kensington tube.

    Cambio de Tercio
An impressive Spanish restaurant with an all-Spanish wine list that’s an impressive tome, though prices start at £20 per bottle.
Cambio de Tercio, 163 Old Brompton Rd, SW5 0LJ (020 7244 8970) Gloucester Rd or South Kensington tube.

    The Establishment
Flights are usually small wine tasters adding up to a legal measure, but at this British restaurant and bar they use the term to describe three measures each of 125ml – ie each flight equalling a half-bottle in total.
    The Establishment, 5-47 Parsons Green Lane, SW6 4HH (020 7731 8703) Parsons Green tube.

    Negozio Classica
This is an enoteca: an Italian wine bar and shop. The usual classic regions dominate, plus a smattering of hefty southern Italians.
Negozio Classica, 283 Westbourne Grove, W11 2QA (020 7034 0005) Ladbroke Grove or Notting Hill Gate tube.

    No. 77 Wine Bar
West Hampstead’s classic 1980s wine bar lives on. To drink, seven new whites have been added to the list – a praise-worthy move. There’s also nod to the growing importance of coastal regions in Chile for aromatic grapes.
    No. 77 Wine Bar, 77 Mill Lane, NW6 1NB (020 7435 7787) West Hampstead tube/rail.

    Ransome’s Dock
Co-owner Martin Lam is both chef-proprietor of this Modern European restaurant and a wine enthusiast. He has filled his list not merely with good bottles, but also bottles that are great value.
    Ransome’s Dock, 35-37 Parkgate Rd, SW11 4NP (020 7223 1611) Battersea Park rail or bus 19, 49, 319, 345.

    The White Horse
Is it a beer-drinkers’ pub? Is it a wine bar? Is it a smart gastropub? The Sloaney Pony is all these, with the bonus of some great wines by the glass.
    The White Horse, 1-3 Parsons Green, SW6 4UL (020 7736 2115) Parsons Green tube.
