It has to be Sam Smith's. On the pub front London is so much cheaper than a lot of cities.... try getting a pint for under £2 in Brighton for example.... I worked in a club there and we did a pint for £3.20 and that was about seven years ago.
It also happens to have some of the most beautiful/well cared for pubs in the capital. Princess Louise, Old Cheshire Cheese, Citte of Yorke, John Snow, Bricklayers Arms, Dover Castle.... these boozers are among the very very best.
Sam Smith's all the way...
But if you're looking for a good selection of happy hour offers just head into soho - pretty much every bar along Brewer St is buy 1 get 1 free on wine, beer and cocktails!
£7.50 for a bottle of merlot at 'De Hems', the dutch style pub in macclesfield street between shaftesbury avenue and gerrard street
also try Obelisk in Chingford, always bogof thurs-sat on corono, smirnoff & bulmers plus pints are under £2 bargain!
took advantage of the "Martini night" at Brown's last night. £3.50 for cocktails where you can actually taste the alcohol was great. It's a shame I work in another bar nearby and feel like a traitor
Just to quantify the cheapness of Sam Smiths; a pint of Old Brewery bitter was £1.86 when I popped in to one of their pubs a few weeeks ago.
I remember the £2 pint arriving in 1995 so they are really rolling back the years.
Lap it up while it lasts!
Bar On Anon in Picaddily circus has a happy 'hour' everyday until 8 I think it is where all wine and cocktails are half price.
I find a nice bottle in a bag in the park works quite well. A bit harder with the current weather conditions.
Watch out for cheap booze it can make you go blind! As a tip always ways check they are using bonified brands in your drinks. Myself, I like to drink 100% agave tequila if anyones buying ?
i have one word for you...WEATHERSPOONS!
and if you're lucky you might get spooned by a granny
How can you possibly do a piece on cheap London drinking without mentioning the stalwart service provided by Sam Smith's pubs? Yes, It's all "Own-Brand" stuff-so what, it's great quality and sooooo cheap-barely any dearer than their Northern outlets.
I particularly recommend the Princess Louise on Holborn, and the Chandos off Trafalgar square. Nice decor as well.
Also 2 for 1 cocktails at B @ 1 !!!
Happy hour at Roxy is really cheap (about 5.30 - 7.30 weekdays) and also friday and saturday (about 7.30 - 9.30) but I aggree all sam smiths are dirt cheap.
Revolutions has the occasional 2 for 1 special on cocktails, beers and pizza amongst other things
Any Sam Smiths pubs are very very very cheap....
