  • I can't imagine anyone not liking this place. The latest venture from the Vince Power Music Group, opened late last year, is a rarity in the West End: cosy, reasonably priced, and with décor that's simultaneously eccentric and inviting. There are two spaces: a small ground-floor bar and a much larger downstairs bar with DJs six nights a week. The decorative motif is that of a ski lodge in the Canadian Rockies, big pictures of which grace the walls. Antlers adorning the ceiling lights and cowhide on the seating downstairs complete the rugged, rustic look. At 7.30pm on a Monday both rooms were pleasantly quiet, perfect for a pre-dinner drink.

We stayed upstairs and drank a pair of cocktails that were fine, in the case of a daiquiri made with three-year-old Havana Club, and excessively vermouthy, in the case of a Beefeater martini. But our charming bartender offered to make a new 'tini when told of the fault. And we had no complaints about pricing. The extensive cocktail list is £6.50, or £8.50 for champagne cocktails, and happy hour from 6 to 9pm offers ordinary cocktails at a delightfully cheap £3.75.

The food menu was being changed at the time of writing, but it will feature a few pies plus finger-food items served until 10pm. The attractions make the Moose a beautiful beast, whether for a late-night thrash on the dance floor, or just an early-evening libation at bargainissimo prices.

Went there last night. I've seen more atmosphere at a funeral parlour. It's in a good location so it's rather baffling that they seem to have avoided doing anything creative with it. Just no effort i'm afraid.

Very disappointing bar - poor atmosphere, cocktails not made properly, worst of all was the rude barman. The barman actually told a customer not to have a particular cocktail because it would take him too long to make it! Result - dont go there.

I love this bar, great cocktail menu and 2 for 1 in the happy hour. Friendly staff, never over busy inside, can sit outside (and smoke) and the cow skin sofa is a nice quirky touch, if a little itchy at times!!
Lovely stop off when shopping in Selfridges : )

Been here loads over the last 6months; an easy place to go for a night out without having to fuss too much. Staff - barmen, cloakroom-man, bouncers have always been fab to all my friends and myself - a mixture of girls and boys on diff nights.

Nice place, nice cocktails.......useless porters, not enough staff at the bar.........reason given to someone for not being allowed in without no other explanation: NO MEN ALLOWED ONLY WOMEN, TOUGH MATE! after going in with a group of people that were there from 8 p.m. on a leaving party, a group that was giving no problem at all....not like others that were there.
Rude!!!! Not worth it!! They really do know how to ruin somebody´s night out!!

I totally love this place! Amazing cocktails, great atmosphere and the doorman is so nice! I left my new hat in the basement and he noticed I wasn't wearing it when I was leaving and asked me about it and even got one of his colleagues to go and fetch it for me!

Went for a friend's birthday. Like others had never heard of the place before, but was pleasantly surprised. Great atmosphere with after-work drinkers. £4 for cocktails so was ready to forego a little on the quality side, but it turned out to be one of the best mojitos I've had in ages. Friendly staff, one of whom recommended I try his "spiced mango mojito" which again was fantastic. Had to leave early due to an appointment early the next morning which was a real shame as by that time the DJ was really getting the crowd going. Will definitely be back.

You have to be joking. Are you reviewing the same bar I've just been to?
The music is terrible (unless you like Rihanna and Britney Spears badly mixed through dodgy speakers).
The photos online look much better than it really is.
    Avoid at all costs.

This a really wicked bar, but I'd never even heard of it as it's hidden down the side of Selfridges. Had an amazing time at a colleague's birthday bash, especially the cocktails and the fact they use real coke when you order a vodka and coke instead of the watery stuff most places serve from a pump. Great music and great atmosphere too!
