Mudchute Farm is a green and pleasant spot on the skyscraper-heavy Isle of Dogs; for family groups, the appeal is obvious. Across the yard from the squealing Gloucester Old Spot pigs and clucking Polish White Crest chickens sits the kitchen. Inside, youll find farmhouse kitchen tables and settles, a big futon for babies, a book and toy corner and information boards outlining the Isles history. Outside, picnic tables look out over riding stables. The bucolic location has its disadvantages flies, for one. But such irritations are soon forgotten when you taste the food. The tireless young chefs certainly know about wholesome seasonal grub and can make lashings of sparkling ginger beer. There are usually four or five hot options (also available in child portions), such as penne with courgette and tomato sauce and goats cheese, or fried polenta topped with wild mushrooms, herbs and cream cheese. Plain eaters can have the farms own eggs, own-made jam or beans on toast. The own-made cakes are brilliant brownies, cupcakes, flapjacks, victoria sponges and Mudchute does the best cream teas this side of Totnes.

I'm interested in photography, music and film. I go to a lot of gigs around London. I love travelling and am planning my next big trip away. C'mon,...
Have eaten at mudhcute a couple of times and always had a fantastic experience. Apart from the magic location within the farm, the food is sublime. Friends had a private party there recently where we enjoyed home smoked chicken, salt baked salmon, the tastiest salads, home made ginger beer and lemonade... need i go on!
Have been here with the kids a few times and the service is consistently poor, the last time we went the food was inedible! Had to return it and had quite a time getting my money back. Won't be eating here again.
