Millbank Lounge
This quality hotel bar is criminally underused, hidden away down a Pimlico backstreet on the first floor of a city hotel. You’ll have no trouble finding a relaxing low chair in the expansive bar area – but you’ll need to take your time over the impressive drinks menu. Lounge Selective is the core choice: mojitos, daiquiris and other classics made with standard (Mount Gay Eclipse, £8.25), superior (Havana 7 or Matusalem, £10.50) or deluxe (Mount Gay XO, Appleton 21, £15-£19) brands. Lounging Nostalgia offers a more eclectic mix: Plymouth gin mixed with elderflower in the Elderflower collins or Absolut Vanilla smashed with raspberries and strawberries in the Cascade. Wines run from a house Lézard chardonnay or merlot (£3.75-£14.50) to a Napa Valley zinfandel (£48).
