Lowlander
Choose from the finest Dutch and Belgian beers at Lowlander, a treat for hop lovers. No fewer than 15 tall, gleaming chrome beer taps are lined up on the bar, offering pilsners, blondes, wheat beers, red and dark ales, fruit beers and miscellaneous speciality beers; there are also more than 40 bottled options. For the undecided, three third-of-a-pint tasters start at £5; for the enthusiast, tutored tastings start at £14. The high ceilings and light-wood communal tables all add to the buzz, overlooked by a mezzanine that can be hired out for private bashes. The good food menu reflects the Dutch and Belgian influence, with meat and cheese platters for around a fiver. Always popular, it’s a shame there are so few staff, so expect a leisurely pace – which is probably how you want to enjoy these beers anyway.
