Amber
The Latin lilt here differs from the more adult tastes of Amber’s nearby sister, Alphabet, although the pair share the same wine selection. Amber is for a younger, partying crowd, more at ease tucking into a sharing platter of tapas (£10) than approaching a well-composed lunch. Cocktails (£6.30) are based on Agavero tequila, Bombay Sapphire gin, Frangelico… the ideal start for a couple of hours of fun before heading out into Soho. Tequilas are a speciality: Sauza Blanco, Herradura Reposado, Sotol Reposado, plus the premier Anejo varities. Bottled beers include Estrella Damm and San Miguel – there’d be no room in the narrow, main bar for taps on the counter anyway. The bar downstairs, similarly narrow and bright, hosts DJs.
