London's best review, food and drink news
In stark contrast to the endearingly dishevelled Dog House across the road (see left) is the smarter, trendier but less characterful White Hart, with its office crowd, sharply dressed staff, sleek interior and minimalist decor. This is as much a bar as a pub, with an excellent selection of wines, a cocktail list and a choice of champagnes - including a Bollinger (£44.50) and a Veuve Clicquot (£69.95) - served to a dance music soundtrack in the evenings. Food is top-notch: flavourful regulars include corn-fed chicken with chorizo bubble and squeak, supplemented by daily specials chalked on a blackboard by the mirror-backed bar.
