Location is the prime draw here smack bang on the waterfront, on a tranquil, tree-lined swathe of grass. You can watch the swans glide past from the warm comfort of a table inside or, weather permitting, from one of the many outdoor benches. An added enticement throughout the year is the long-running jazz night on Sunday. The cabin-style interior remains resolutely unfancy, as does the traditional pub grub (chicken wings, steak and kidney pie). There's Greene King IPA, Abbot and Broadside on tap plus a monthly changing guest ale, but on hot summer days the peoples' choice is undoubtedly Pimms and lemonade.
