Under the arches of Peckham Rye station, there's more than a hint of the east European squat bar about this establishment. With its white walls, lap-tops with internet access, open kitchen and blackboard menu (affordable pies and burgers feature largely) there's a communal atmosphere to the place made all the more convivial by the outdoor bar where smokers puff away on railway sleepers converted into benches. As well as the bottled beers (including Duvel, Erdinger, Guinness, Lech and Zywiec), there are at least 34 cocktails and 16 wines (four of which are organic). DJs play remixed hip hop, funk and indie rock and the Sassoon Gallery (which is available to hire as a licensed venue) next door showcases local artists' work.
