This Victorian behemoth was once two pubs - the Crown for the gentry, the Greyhound for the great unhosed - that have long since been united by a democratic unbricking. The cavernous interior comprises a central bar and three rooms with wooden benches overlooked by an ornately moulded ceiling, while the enormous two-tiered beer garden gets packed in summer. As the only pub in the village it's also a community centre of sorts; film screenings, wine and chess club meetings, and even weddings are hosted. The pub is planning a series of real ale festivals, while Young's Bitter, Harveys Sussex Best and London Pride are served up daily.
