All Star Lanes
Doing for ten-pin bowling what the Elbow Room did for pool and Café Kick did for table football, All Star Lanes is a well-realised, high-end endeavour. It’s the gold-card brigade’s foil to grungier Bloomsbury Bowling nearby, sporting four bowling lanes (plus two private ones) and a red leather bar serving up good cocktails. It’s not a cheap night out – the kitchen serves lobster, for gawd’s sake – but All Star goes about its business with confidence and panache. Celebrities, they say, flock here, and the venue was recently featured as a ‘treat’ for Alan Sugar’s winners on The Apprentice. Praise indeed. Look out for new branches in Bayswater and Shoreditch by 2008.
