Bar Vinyl
Squeezed into narrow premises midway along bar-filled Inverness Street, Bar Vinyl exudes urban attitude. A DJ mixes pounding beats in the background, while the trendy clientele perch on cube seats opposite the dimly lit bar, or devour stone-baked pizzas at the bigger tables towards the rear. Graffiti-scrawl murals and digital artwork adorn the walls, and laid-back bartenders banter with the regulars as they mix cocktails from a battered, record-shaped list. A Barry White (vanilla-flavoured Stoli, apple, mint, lime, brown sugar and apple juice) went down a treat, but the barman’s attempt to make a Blueberry Hill with raspberries instead of blueberries was less than successful – safer, perhaps, to stick to the draught Staropramen and Grolsch, or ample selection of bottled beers. Downstairs, hip Vinyl Addiction peddles breakbeat, electro trash and house.
