A clean-cut, well-dressed pub, the Grove is politely and professionally run, but lacks a bit of individuality. But this Young's establishment has just enough going for it to avoid corporate characterlessness, such as the centrepiece real log fire; if you can, get yourself one of the comfy couches that surround it, or dive into the cosy lounge. There's a helpful drinks menu with tips and suggestions on the 40 or so wines, along with the expected Young's ales. Successful just as it is, the Grove sees no need to depart from a tried and tested formula.
