Ain’t Nothin’ But? The Blues Bar
This popular meeting place for blues enthusiasts is suitably dark and downbeat, but not so much that you can’t enjoy a comfortable drink at the busy bar counter or tables at the back. Drinking away your blues can be done with draught Adnams Bitter and Broadside, Red Stripe, Hoegaarden or Aspall Cyder, or bottled Beck’s, Corona and Cobra. If you’re in a hurry or just after authenticity, bourbons include Jack Daniel’s, Wild Turkey and Jim Beam. There’s music every night (£5-£7 for post-midnight sessions Thursday through Saturday), combos setting up in a back corner, and open-mic on Saturday afternoons. As Georgia White wailed on the Decca 78 opposite the bar, ‘The Blues Ain’t Nothin’ But…’
