  • The froth and sediment of King's Cross street life washes past this classy DJ and cocktail bar - opened long before the area's grime-to-gloss transformation began to gather force. At the pentagonal island bar, whose shape forms the logo on the menu and in the windows, the 50-strong cocktail list includes 14 'Ruby Lounge Favourites' (£6) such as a Strawberry Nemesis of Stoli Raspberry, Bison vodka and framboise. Draught beers, Leffe and San Miguel, and reasonable merlot and shiraz wines underscore a powerful music agenda, 'fundamental to what Ruby is all about'. Resident DJs give way to live jazz every other Thursday.
