On a quiet side street off Camden High Street, this lovely little pub feels deliciously out of the way. With dark green-painted panelling, glimmering candlelight and an open fire on chilly nights, it’s delightfully old-fashioned and romantic – especially when bar staff close the shutters towards the end of the evening. To the rear, the tiny kitchen prepares simple but seriously good food, including very superior steaks, sausage and mash and tapas-style sharing plates. You’ll find Caffrey’s, Heineken, Kronenbourg, San Miguel, Leffe, Aspall Suffolk Cyder, Guinness and Guinness Extra Cold on tap. The wine list, meanwhile, offers four reds and fours whites by the glass, all under £3.40. What’s not to like?
